Steve has worked as the Industry Liaison lead within the Home Office’s Office for Security and Counter Terrorism, and was the project manager that delivered the logistic support to the policing of the London 2012 Olympics.
Steve’s has worked in various disciplines within the security industry from consultative roles, preforming Threat & Risk assessments, writing SOPs and Security Manuals, to operational security planning for stadiums, large factories and shopping malls.
He has completed the National Security Coordinators Course (Counter Terrorism), the Management of Disaster and Civil Emergency course (MODACE), and the Metropolitan Police ‘Sporting Events Commanders Course’.
Steve has a wealth of experience. He provided security consultancy around the world to provide proportionate security solutions, advising on the best uses of technology, writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent delivery of security services, and to providing informed insight to policy and operational delivery.
Graeme spent 13 years as partner in Castle Caretech, a control panel manufacturer of high end security control equipment, including void alarms, before developing his own specialist security industry insurance brokerage. Subsequently a forensic expert witness in over 250 cases, he has investigated claims for fraud, robbery, armed robbery, fire, burglary and claimed burglary, detector and control panel functions, alarm receiving centre (ARC) operations and protocol, installer responsibilities and actions, reconstructions, alarm log analysis, smoke cloaking technology, void property security and manned guarding.
Retained in three of UK’s largest ever cases:
- £25m Hatton Garden burglary in 2015
- £75m Sony factory fire in 2011
- £32m Weston-super-Mare pier fire in 2008
Graeme has worked with Trading Standards, NPCC, ACPO, ABI and has acted as a strategic advisor for the National Security Inspectorate. He has also appeared as a security expert on ‘Watchdog’ and ‘Rogue Traders’.
Gordon is the principal consultant at Gordon Herrald Associates, established 1985. His technical qualifications are matched with a good balance between commercial and contractual awareness, practical engineering knowledge, and an enthusiasm to get the right result. He has over 40 years of relevant experience. After 7 years with a market leader in large security projects he identified the market need for impartial security advice from technically competent consultants.
Specialist areas include security strategies, policy, reviews, tender documentation and expert witness for security management integrated systems, access control, CCTV, control rooms and physical security to typically oil and gas complexes, central banks, embassies and universities in the UK and overseas.
Originator of many published papers, he is a member of British Standards committees GW/1/11 'Alarm Receiving Centres', GW/1/8 'Access Control', and served on the ASC board/council for 16 years. Gordon is a past winner of The Imbert Prize - the Security Associations' Award.
